WETLAND MAPPING

GeoSpatial Services works closely with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on the creation and update of wetland maps for the National Wetlands Inventory. Services that CRS provides include:

* Photo/imagery interpretation
* Wetland delineation and classification
* Collection and review of collateral data (soils, topo maps, hydrology, etc.)
* GIS layer creation
* Interactive technology update based on current imagery

The most time and cost-effective method for producing updated wetland maps and databases begins with the digital processing of historic photo interpreted overlays where they exist. The resulting GIS database can then be overlaid with current imagery and other information, and updated on-screen. Ortho-rectified color-infrared positive transparencies and/or black and white aerial photos are generally used as the basis for the update process. The resulting information is a updated, spatially referenced digital database that is easily accessible to the end-user for mapping and research needs.

The team of photo interpretation specialists at CRS uses proven methods for digital processing critical to the success and cost effectiveness of your GIS. Using ArcGIS technology, ArcScan and advanced orthorectification techniques, Environmental & GeoSpatial Services has provided their clients with hard copy maps, digital format maps, wetland attributes justified by the line work provided by photo interpretation, and a geodatabase for GIS integration with future map products.
