PROFILE
GeoSpatial Services is a service provider of Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) consulting and development services. GSS is a Saint
Mary's University of Minnesota program, with operations in
Winona and Minneapolis, MN.
GSS
has a rich history of providing geographic information system support
for a broad spectrum of clients in both government and private industry.
It grew out of the university's
long commitment to research of the Upper Mississippi River, where GIS
was applied as a trand and analysis tool for biological studies. Data
development and conversion, and custom applications are key strengths
of GeoSpatial Services.
In combining GIS education and project-based experiential learning, GSS is unique in the region. SMU has created an opportunity
for skilled undergraduate and graduate students to work in a mentored environment on active
client projects. Clients benefit via access to future employees and emerging
skills and technologies. GSS also provides a source of research and development
for the Department of Resource Analysis as some of the toughest GIS problems
are solved in a real world environment.
