SURSGO SOILS DATABASE DEVELOPMENT

GeoSpatial Services was presented a problem with extracting three dimensional SURSGO soils data in a standard GIS format to support pipeline stress corrosion pipeline modeling and general land use management assessments using soil data. GSS developed a database application that extracts the multi attribute and multi horizon data into a new database. This database can be queried and displayed within a GIS or used in a traditional database environment. GSS is also developing a web-based application to support accessing and downloading this data in both a database and GIS format. This system is being developed in support of Minnesota's Board of Soil and Water Resources.
